Snowy Waterfall

Went out hiking yesterday on the snow covered ice (yikes!) but it was certainly pretty. I was a little disappointed when I got home and looked at the pictures. This seemed the best of the bunch, but it still seems so busy for such a calm and peaceful scene. Oh well... it still makes me smile!

Actually I like the busy. I like your composition, it just appears that you lacked favourable light. An overcast sky, yes?

If the snow sticks around I'd be out trying some of the same locations early or late in the day. Get some long shadows and orange sunlight to boost the impact =)

I think the composition is really good, with the river coming out from within the busy forest :) Great shot.

I really like your snowy scene and the small waterfall stream. I think it is a very peaceful shot. Hiking must have been a bit chilly. :) Very nice.

Okay, you've got me wondering...this looks awfully familiar to me and when I looked at your profile and noticed you're in NY, it makes me wonder if this is where I think is...Lick Brook? I could be wrong. I'm sure there are many places that look similar...but the leaning trees on the left have me curious. :-)

Beautifully shot with the proper exposure. It's so pretty with all of the snow.

This shot was taken at Thatcher State Park. I don't think I've ever heard of Lick Brook. Take a pic of it though and use it as your potd and we can compare!

Hey! Guess who finally made it back to your PAD?? :-)

I've never heard of Thatcher State Park. I looked it up and it appears it's out near the Albany area. You must not be too far from Neil Shapiro then?

I had taken a few shots of Lick Brook just before you posted this one. I went back to them and they are a bit different...but if you don't see them side by side they do seem similar. They are here:
